I think the younger you are, the easier it is to just pretend that you will always look and feel this invincible. ;) Of course we have many examples of this not being the case.

I feel much better with regular exercise too, I'm glad this was helpful.

Re: 7 Reasons Why Trusting Yourself Will Improve Your Health

I think it's easy to make health an afterthought if you're young and/or healthy-*looking*. If you don't notice any negative effects on your present life, you may end up pushing aside any thoughts about future consequences.

Reminders like this are so useful, because it's *much* easier to get out of healthy habits than to get into them! I always need to remind myself how much better I feel when I exercise regularly...sleep better, more energy, and more motivated.

Re: 7 Reasons Why Trusting Yourself Will Improve Your Health

Sounds good Dr. Wright!

Re: 7 Reasons Why Trusting Yourself Will Improve Your Health

Awww, thank you so much for all the compliments Jules. Preventative medicine and being proactive and knowledgable about your life choices (and their impacts) are so important. It's also wise to note that balance is key, and as you noted, to really listen to your body since it is always seeking a healthy balance and if you listen, will often guide you appropriately.

Your website is lovely and inspiration. Such a pleasure to read!

Re: 7 Reasons Why Trusting Yourself Will Improve Your Health

I think we all make excuses for not taking care of ourselves. I had similar things happen when I started a raw vegan diet about 3 years ago.

I think the truth is that most of our relationships center around food. When we want to see friends, we meet for lunch or have dinner together. If we can't agree on a place to eat, then maybe we shouldn't meet at all!? What kind of a friendship is that, right? ;) That's fine as long as you are doing what is best for your own health.

I have yet to try a juice fast/feast, but I am looking forward to it in the next few months. Thanks for writing about your experiences, it's good to know there are others out there living the life! :)

Re: 7 Reasons Why Trusting Yourself Will Improve Your Health

I'm glad you are feeling better Rosabel. Our physical health is always a reflection of something else going on - if we are not respecting our bodies, what else are we not respecting? If we are putting garbage into ourselves, where else in our lives are we permitting "garbage" to enter? It's all connected.

I recently completed a detox program. Along with letting go of extra pounds and inches (woohoo! back to pre-baby weight! and the baby is now THREE!), I also let go of some work and hired my first virtual assistant. Funny how letting go of excess is reflected across the board.

Blessings,
Andrea

Re: 7 Reasons Why Trusting Yourself Will Improve Your Health

This was a very good analysis of how important health is and why it should be first and foremost before other things. With good health, everything else falls into place and you can lead a happy, healthy, wealthy and carefree life. But if you neglect to take care of your health, you can't enjoy other things.

I smiled with "Health Food is Weird" because I am doing something even more drastic that just eating a bowl of salad in the employee cafeteria. I've revamped my entire dietary consumption to almost entirely plant-based foods, shifting away from the SAD diet (Standard American Diet). Not only that but I've gone for specialized colon cleansings, foot baths and have sat in the infared sauna. PLUS I've experimented with juice fasts (had 3 days of just drinking fresh juice to clean my body even more).

And because of that, I lost a good friend who thought she no longer had anything in common with me.

Imagine that! LOL. I'm actually quite fine with that - it's part of life's ebb's and flows and I'm also doing very well with my businesses - with increased health comes increased abundance, so called coincidences and more opportunities.

So it's all worth it! Enjoyed this one!! Thanks.

Re: 7 Reasons Why Trusting Yourself Will Improve Your Health

This is a great post! I totally agree that no healthy means no wealth. I was frequently sick last month. I couldn't concentrate in my work as I was tired and dizzy most of the time. I find it's a little harder, going into all the holiday parties, to be really comfortable eating healthfully, and it's reassuring to know others can relate to the way it does make you stand out, and not always in a good way :-).

Re: 7 Reasons Why Trusting Yourself Will Improve Your Health

This is great! I go above and beyond what most of them consider healthy. When they see me with my spirluna smoothies, supplements, no sugar policy, lunches thats 75% veggies or talk about pastured poultry and eggs, I'm suddenly a "Berkeley type" (our location). It no longer bothers me because 1. they do not know what I have to deal with health wise that drives me to live this way and 2. I feel and look soooo much better than I did in my early 20s.

I do need to work on getting more sleep! Thanks for that reminder.

Re: 7 Reasons Why Trusting Yourself Will Improve Your Health

Absolutely! That's exactly what I was going for. We are all on our own journey to greater health. We all learn new tips and tricks and ways to keep ourselves eating right and exercising... so it's good to remind ourselves it's an ongoing process. ;)

Re: 7 Reasons Why Trusting Yourself Will Improve Your Health

This is great Nathalie! And it is, because our body, no matter how much money we have, or how many resolutions we make, or how much medicine we take - is one asset we can control. Proper nutrition and fitness go a long way toward reaching desired healthy levels. And...we'll never know it all, or have the "perfect" diet...We are each unique and evolving...
